The Moonlit Nest: A Thanksgiving of Hope
Sharon DShare
In the heart of an ancient cedar stood a nest woven from fallen feathers and twigs. Within it, a mother owl named Solenne kept her chicks warm against the November frost.
That year, food was scarce. The forest had endured drought, and hunger loomed. Yet Solenne never left her nest without whispering, “Hope is what feeds the heart.”
Each night, she flew across the quiet woods, gathering what little she could — not for herself, but for her young. When she found nothing, she sang instead, her lullaby echoing through the branches.
Her song reached the nearby valley where a girl named Clara heard it. Moved, she began leaving crumbs of bread and drops of grain beneath the old cedar. Soon, others joined her.
By Thanksgiving, the forest thrived again — proof that kindness and hope can rebuild even what nature forgets.
In Dudeily’s fall spirit, “The Moonlit Nest” reminds us to care — for the planet, our loved ones, and every living soul. Sustainable choices, like organic fabrics, are our modern nests of hope.
